God’s love, mercy and grace towards and over us has nothing to do with us. Nothing we can do could ever earn it. Nothing we can say could ever bring it. It’s not because of who we are that God bestows it upon us.

God gives it freely and unconditionally to those who believe. (Romans 4:16-17)

Saved by Faith Alone

We only need to have faith. Through faith we are saved. It is by faith that we are made right with God. Faith, believing God at His Word, is what credits us as righteous. (Philippians 3:9)

Faith is believing God and salvation by God’s grace is a gift from God. (Ephesians 4:7)

Believing God

This comes through faith. God draws us and opens our eyes and hearts to him. He works within us to bring about our salvation. (Ephesians 1:18-19)

He gives us the gift of salvation in Him when we believe. (2 Timothy 1:9-10)

God starts His good work in us. He will bring it to conclusion as he continues to work His good plan and purpose for us in our lives. (Philippians 1:6)

Saved by Faith not Works

We don’t have to earn anything. We don’t have to do good in order to gain God’s favor. Salvation is a gift from God. (Ephesians 2:8)

Instead after we receive salvation, good works flow out of us in gratitude towards God for what He has done. There is no obligations or requirements. No way can we earn our way into Heaven. (Ephesians 2:9)

Works come out of faith and belief, out of gratitude and thankfulness to God for saving us. (Ephesians 2:10)

Flesh vs Spirit

We are inherently sinful and bent against God and His ways. Our nature rebels against God, but God’s Spirit within us changes us and teaches and guides us in His ways.

When we believe, we become a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)

The old nature is replaced with God’s desires. We are no longer condemned under sin, but free in Christ. God covers us in His righteousness because we believe.

Scripture

Those God credited as righteous in the Bible was not because of what they did but only because they believed God.

Abraham believed and it was credited to him as righteousness. (Galatians 3:6)

By faith many believed throughout the Bible and were made righteous in God’s eyes. Issac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab and many others all believed by faith. (Hebrews 11)

Our Life

When built on faith we are made righteous with God, not because of what we do but because of what He does in our life and what He did for us on the cross. We find our hope and our strength in Christ, not because of ourselves, but because of His great love towards us.

God is trustworthy and faithful to us out of His riches, not ours. We don’t deserve anything from Him. We could never ask anything of Him on our own. Because of His goodness towards us we can grow in our faith in Him and trust Him with anything in our life.

Nothing We Need To Do

We don’t need to try to earn God’s goodness towards us. We don’t need to strive to be perfect for God. We don’t need to be stuck in guilt over our sin. We don’t need to be fearful of punishment over our mistakes and failures. (1 John 4:18-19)

God is good to us regardless of us.

Praise & Rest in Him

We can rest in His love, mercy and grace.

We can’t help ourselves, but God willingly reaches out to us.

He is our helper.

Our redeemer.

Our Savior.

Thanks be to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who gives us His grace and peace freely! (2 Corinthians 9:15)
